Anthropology

Included in my curriculum for this semester is my Anthropology class. I find it very interesting and so far I am loving the discussions. One of my thoughts today while we were discussing adaptation was that we, as humans have effectively stunted our ability to evolve and adapt further due to our dependence on Technology and Medicine. Due to our advances in medicine it is true that we save hundreds of thousands of lives, but we are also saving the genetic diseases and mutations that may have otherwise died off naturally. We have enormously affected how our bodies would have naturally adapted to the climate changes by inventing both air conditioning and heating systems. Instead of evolving and adapting we are instead changing our environment to suite us. While this may seem like a good thing to most, I have a differing opinion. What happens if we lose these technologies due to disaster or lack of resource? Will we be able to survive considering that we have not adapted to our changing environment, or will we become extinct with those other species who were also not able to adapt to their environment?
