Heat Wave

The heat is insane today! The air conditioning isn't even keeping the house cool. Class tomorrow is going to be brutal if this keeps up!

My Nana

Today was my Nana's mastectomy. The surgeon said that they got all of the cancer and that there wasn't any in her lymph nodes. My dad is going to call me tomorrow with an update because she will be asleep all night.

Illustration Fundamentals

Well I finished inking my first assignment. It looks pretty good. It turned out much better then I thought it would. Now all that's left to do is mount it onto the illustration board. I'll post a pic of it soon :)

My Printer Has Issues

So I woke up this morning at 630 so that I could print out my 2009 Tax Return so that I can turn it in to the Financial Aid office. My printer decided to go completely nuts. First it jammed at least 7 times, and then when I finally got it to stop jamming, it decided to print the jobs I cancelled. This would have been fine, but it printed them in printer language instead of English. *sigh* I wasted a quarter of a brand new ink cartridge on nothing :( Well this is my mini-rant for the week, I'm sure I'll post something more interesting later.

Anthropology

Included in my curriculum for this semester is my Anthropology class. I find it very interesting and so far I am loving the discussions. One of my thoughts today while we were discussing adaptation was that we, as humans have effectively stunted our ability to evolve and adapt further due to our dependence on Technology and Medicine. Due to our advances in medicine it is true that we save hundreds of thousands of lives, but we are also saving the genetic diseases and mutations that may have otherwise died off naturally. We have enormously affected how our bodies would have naturally adapted to the climate changes by inventing both air conditioning and heating systems. Instead of evolving and adapting we are instead changing our environment to suite us. While this may seem like a good thing to most, I have a differing opinion. What happens if we lose these technologies due to disaster or lack of resource? Will we be able to survive considering that we have not adapted to our changing environment, or will we become extinct with those other species who were also not able to adapt to their environment?

This is new

So I have decided to create a blog here. I am sick of facebook and would like to actually blog without all of the flash-game interruptions. I am still working on the layout and trying to figure out how to get my slide show to work, so be patient with me as I learn this system that is new to me. In the mean time I do have links to my photography portfolio and to my Deviant Art profile so please feel free to look at some of my own art :)
